Just went to this new urgent care facility yesterday with a small but worrisome problem that could turn much worse without care. I made an appt on my smartphone (!) and arrived at this place (converted form a former grocery store). I walked in, took a seat, and my name was promptly called. Brought to a nice, but typical ER room to wait. Within 5 minutes, they had checked my vitals, heard my concerns. Within 5 minutes after that, the MD came in (No, not a PA) and wanted to take an xray of a place in my shin that had some unusual swelling that wouldn't go away. So I sat back and waited to be called to the xray room. The door opened, and in comes this very pleasant XRay tech (Heather) WHEELING some snazzy looking mobile x-ray machine on wheels! Ive never had an xray machine come to ME before! It took about 10 minutes, and a prelim reading indicated no break. However MD was still concerned about my swelling and wanted me to go to another facility to have an ultrasound (They just opened, and did not have an ultrasound machine yet. He wanted to make sure it wasn't a blood clot that could travel to my heart. He got a little upset when I told him I could not go at that moment. he was very professional and polite as he did what he was supposed to do. I promised to go tomorrow, and that I just didn't have a choice. he wasn't happy with that, but I could it was because he cared, and I really did appreciate that. ( I can't recall his name at the moment). It's been a long time since I was able to talk to a doctor without her/him looking at their watch. Ohm BTW, being new, the place was clean, bright, and comfortable. I hope they succeed at that location, especially before Aetna and CVS take over the medical world as they try to replace primary care physicians everywhere. In meantime, I want to figure out a way to combine that xray machine with a Roomba and have it maneuver around outside, maybe cleaning the parking lot and offering to take your xray if you wanted. Hey, maybe, Aetna would be interested. They could use it for xrays, and CVS could keep their stores clean at the same time. And since it already develops pictures, it could do double duty at their photo desk.
This group has been incredibly responsive and helpful to me.
Coventry practice was/is great, but when some providers moved to the Vernon office, it became a disaster quickly. The staff are rude, snobby b*tches, call you a dozen times in 3 months, can't read their emails, treat you like you're a junkie, don't give refills on effing birth control. Nightmare. I'd give ZERO if I could and am going back to the Coventry practice. Just a little too big for their britches. Having been a patient for 10 years since the Tolland Office and then the Coventry Office with no issues, clearly the issue is with the new office staff in Vernon. Stay Clear.
